Superb post from Kate about the situation of Venezuelan oposition. An excerpt:

These guys cannot get it through their skulls that there needs to be some sort of united front against Chavez, if for nothing else to create a legitimate opposition. Honestly, if I were chavista, I wouldn’t even bother to write about the opposition; I’d be laughing way too hard to be able to sit down and write something coherent. Primero Justicia wants to vote article by article; the student movement –which has been called sifrino by many in the elite political class– continues, albeit intermittently; COPEI wants to get rid of article 141; AD is nowhere to be found. All the meanwhile, chavistas and the administration are giving opposition forces the run-around by entertaining futile opposition attempts. The saddest part of it all? The opposition are buying into it! They are what my Italian grandmother calls stunods, which are essentially thick-headed people who are gluttons for punishment.

A colombo-americana’s perspective: Trouble in el dizque paraiso de Chavezuela?

You should read it all.

More about the German plot:

The accused conspirators in a bombing plot disrupted last week in Germany were part of what the authorities say is a small, but growing, flow of militants from Germany and other Western countries who are receiving terrorism training at camps in Pakistan.

Beginning early last year, at least five of the suspects traveled to the tribal regions of Waziristan, where they learned to prepare chemical explosives and military-grade detonators that they intended to use to build three car bombs, according to German officials and a confidential German intelligence document that details the allegations.

[…] As further evidence of traffic between Germany and the tribal areas of Pakistan, intelligence officials said six other men from Germany who had received similar training had been detained in Pakistan, and they suspect that numerous other Germans have attended the camps without being identified by the authorities.

German officials say they are troubled by evidence that Al Qaeda and other groups are training Western-born recruits whose passports allow them easy access to other Western countries.

“They started to look especially for people from Europe, because they wanted to train them and later to use them here in Germany for operations,” said a high-ranking German intelligence official who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the continuing investigation.

The accusations in Germany contain similarities to two high-profile cases in Britain.

[…] This summer militants released a 46-minute videotape depicting some 250 graduates of a Taliban training camp near the Afghan-Pakistan border, which included speeches in English by recruits who were grouped by the countries they had been trained to attack, including Germany and the United States.

“We are not only fighting in Afghanistan,” the Taliban leader, Mullah Mansoor, said at the end of the ceremony. “Those American, British, German, French, Canadian and others who have come to finish us, if God wills, we will destroy them with the power of strong faith in God. We will commit suicidal attacks and we will destroy their national assets.”

This also happens in Spain by the way, and specially in Catalonia.

For Islamist terrorist organizations this is something necessary… as they avoid better the police control and the possible suspicions from the neighbourhood.

Also in Germany a rabbi has been stabbed in the stomach:

A rabbi was stabbed in the stomach by another man on a Frankfurt street in what appeared to be a spontaneous attack, police said Saturday.

The 42-year-old rabbi, whose name was not disclosed, underwent surgery after the Friday night attack and appeared to be out of danger, police said.

The rabbi was walking with two other people when they encountered the assailant accompanied by two women, a police statement said. Witnesses said the attacker spoke to the rabbi — who was wearing a yarmulke — in what sounded like Arabic.

The rabbi did not understand, and the attacker then threatened in German to kill him and stabbed him once, police said. The attacker fled and the women who were with him ran in different directions.

So who is the murderer? De Der Spiegel (aquí el link en alemán a la noticia):

Here in Spain:

a) ETA has accused the Government of “not fulfilling their pacts” (oops, but the Government says there weren’t any…) and that they will continue with the “armed struggle“. Zapatero said that this year was going to be better that the previous one, and the next day the Barajas’ T4 terminal exploded after an ETA’s device went off, killing two persons. Just a few days ago, Zapatero in the independent diary of the morning, that is, EL País, in an interview, blamed on Popular Party the lack of success of the peace process. And today he is accused of not fulfilling his pacts with ETA… Now, that for those who deny Zapatero is a jynx. And a liar…. Liar

And on Monday 10th, a car has exploded in Logroño, although no one has been killed or hurt…

b) the Government wants to impose on the citizens a new subject, which would be taught at the schools: Education for Citizenship. Roughly speaking, this is a subject whose aim is to teach children, leftists are lovers of the arts, peaceful, good in essence, while right-wingers are militarists, professional haters and so on. I will write about that, as it is an important thing to consider for next generations. But if you speak Spanish, you can go here to know more about it.

c) the same foundation which is training the Education for Citizenship’s teachers has advised that the Civil War’s History must be re-written. Hilarion, in Valea’s blog, (Waveto both!) wrote this comment [my translation]:

it was about time that someone tells us the truth about what happened. I am going to advise them to include, at least, these fundamental facts which had been systematically manipulated or hidden:

1) Calvo Sotelo was not killed by assault guards who were supporters of Socialist PSOE. He committed suicide shooting himself twice in the back of his own head.

2) Franco made his Moor forces cross the Strait of Gibraltar in makeshift vessels (=pateras).

3) Carrillo had nothing to do with Paracuellos. He was at a program in El País newspaper’s radio Cadena Ser speaking in a program.

4) Andreu Nin escaped to Brasil with the Bank of Spain’s gold. Only the fascist propaganda said that he dissapeared because the stalinists have killed him and that he gave the gold to Stalin so that the latter could guard it.

5) The Republicans (Reds, communists…) won the Ebro’s Battle. But when they were attacking it, they positioned themselved on the wrong side of the river.

6) The Republic won the war, but the Franco’s propaganda achieved its goal: no one had been able to discover that till now.

7) It is not true that Hemingway and Dos Passos ended with all the reserves of gin in Madrid. What is true is that they were stinking with a known smell, because, when they have just arrived in Madrid, an unknown and not very careful waiter, stinked their clothes with a Beefeater Gin’s bottle and, considering the bad state of finances in the capital then, they weren’t able to change their clothes throughout all the war.

Rolling on the floor

d) the agressions against PP members continue: Angry a New Generations’ militant (New Generations is the association for youths of PP) has been hurt after being beaten heavily. A group of violents have already attacked the PP stand in Alcorcón (celevrating now its patron’s holidays). The party’s spokerperson in Alcorcón, Fernando Díaz, has also suffered some contusions in the face, arm and hand, and has denounced the facts to the Police.

According to their statement, at 7:30 pm, around 15 youths began “to insult and menace the people who were there working inside the stand. When the latter considered what was happenning, they abandoned what they were doing and scaped running“, he said.

But the agressors run after them, pursuing the hurt man, an Italian national, who was beaten severely, and was later driven to Hospital, although he was discharged from hospital later.

The agressors were identified as okupas, “belonging to anti-system groups who came from another caseta with republican flags“.

e) the Prince of Asturias’ daughter has begun going to school. But not to a normal/ordinary school. After repeating in all TV shows, that the Prince and his family are “youths of their age” (though they don’t have to pay mortgage..), the Infanta Leonor is going to a school built for her, whose companions are sons and daughter of the Civil Guard. The school has been built by the Defense Ministry (as if it had a huge budget…) and a third part of it is paid by the Autonomous Community of Madrid (as if they were Kings only of it, instead of Spain… something which would not reduce the general criticism against “the capital”, just because it is the capital…). 🙄

f) On Sunday, the victim no. 56 (of this year) as a result of domestic violence was killed. The Fundación Mujeres (Women Foundation) has released a video to make the women aware of the emotional blackmail a majority of them suffer. That same emotional blackmail is the root of some of them stopping the criminal processes against their husbands/lovers/…

If this proves something is that the Law of Full Protection against Gender Violence has had very little effect in preventing this kind of acts. From my point of view, there are two very interesting things in this law: first, that if a woman beats her husband he has not the same protection as she would have in the same situation; and that if it is a same-sex marriage, the partners are also excluded from the law. And secondly, considering the measures the law imposes, the budget to really make them possible should be enormous. But the budget is not so important as to make that possible…

In fact, this is not a problem of huge budgets or of engaging more policemen or civil servants, but of education. Intelligence, goodness, beauty, honesty, etc. are valors which are not given by nationality, height or sex, but that appear in some individuals while are not present in others. But if both chauvinists and feminists keep on saying their sexes are above the other -while neither of them is right-, the situation will be maintained in the long run. Situation which is aggravated by the immigration which normally comes from places which are even more chauvinistic than Spain.

According to the report from the Spanish General Council of Judicial Power h/t Desde Mi Rincón, these are the numbers:

      Protection orders Presented accusations
  Total   13.472 39.079
Victim Man Spanish>18 1.721 7.690
    Spanish minor 148 494
    Foreign>18 217 1.091
    Foreign minor 37 101
  Woman Spanish>18 8.363 22.612
    Spanish minor 315 678
    Foreign>18 2.832 7.140
    Foreign minor 126 305
Accused Spanish man   8.897 24.326
  Foreign man   3.053 7.639
  Spanish woman   1.197 6.192
  Foreign woman   322 1.316

So some men are suffering mistreatment in silence, aren’t they? No one speaks about this… and campaigns are normally aimed at mistreated women, but no mistreated man is mentioned. Raised Eyebrow And in the present state of things I feel we will have to wait to see that Waiting This is not equality, really. At least, from my point of view. Whistling

g) The socialist Major of Sevilla has supported the Chaves‘ initiative of giving free apartments in Andalucía and has announced that he will raise the Tax on Real State a 50% to the unnoccupied houses. He maintains that his objective is “to make more attractive the renting market” to ensure that the appartments are a “fundamental right” and not a “business“. He has not outlined what criteria will be used to decide if a house is or not occupied. From PP, Javier Arenas considers the Chaves’ initiative a “joke of the worst taste“.

NOTE: Chávez is the Venezuelan Bolivarian blablabla President. Cháves is the President of the Autonomous Community of Andalucia. I know, I also mix them up. I dont know

Noblesse Oblige writes about Pakistan and the return of Nawaz Sharif, scheduled for Monady 9/10. And… Nawad Sharif was arrested and deported to Saudi Arabia:

After landing in Islamabad he was charged and put on board a plane bound for Saudi Arabia, Religious Affairs Minister Ejaz ul-Haq told BBC News.

Mr Sharif says he wants to challenge President Pervez Musharraf, who ousted him in a 1999 coup, ahead of elections.

Mr Sharif arrived in Pakistan weeks after the country’s Supreme Court affirmed his right to return.

On board the plane which flew him to Pakistan from London, Mr Sharif told the BBC he wanted to help restore the rule of law.

“It’s democracy versus dictatorship,” he said.

Once the plane arrived in Islamabad, paramilitary troops surrounded it and there was a stand-off on board as Mr Sharif refused to hand over his passport to immigration officials for nearly two hours.

Eventually he agreed to leave the plane and was escorted to the airport’s VIP lounge.

But shortly afterwards, he was separated from his entourage, returned to the tarmac and put on board a helicopter. Later, he was transferred to a plane bound for Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

Officials said he had been charged with money-laundering and corruption.

So, Musharraf wanted reconciliation, didn’t he? Liar

read No Pasarán: The World can’t Wait:

after ZP won the general election in 2004 following the Atocha atrocities, he decided to present himself to the world as Blair had done in Britain – as the Great Peacemaker. Blair and his group had won the peace in Ulster, and ZP was going to do even better in the Basque Country – by hook or by crook. No-one, and especially no political party, would be allowed to block this crusade. If the chief opposition party found the peace process potentially explosive, or farcical, or a devilishly clever means by which ETA could recover from its then crippled and bankrupt state, and made this view public knowledge – then ZP and his companions would denounce the chief opposition party. They would be hounded in the socialist media, and on the Government-owned TV channels. They would be turned into an ogre by the Administration’s spokespeople. We would be taught to hate the Partido Popular.

Read it all. And yes, a lot more people than MSM tells -but not so many as I would like- are angry at this process.

Also the position of this Government with Cuba has been widely critisized. Now we know why Zapatero had this love relationship with Castro’s brothers:

Cuban dictatorship was used as a post office between Zapatero’s Government and ETA in their negotiations. According to El Mundo newspaper, the Government transmitted to some regime civil servants of the “precriminal detentions” the messages it wanted to send the gang. Cuba wrote them and handled them to the terrorists. This messages, even after the T-4 terrorist attack, were maintained till last april.

[…] The newspaper, in the editorial, maintains that the meddling of the Castroit dictatorship in the negotiations shows the “frailty of the relationship’s ways in which Zapatero was based to put into effect that ETA has already abandoned the weapons“. And reminds that “the president was depending on an intermediary, who was not only a dictatorship, but who has repeatedly shown their sympaties for a band with whom it has a common Marxist ideology“. It concludes that “if we were asking favors of this class to the Cuban government, it is logical to think that there was a price to pay. And that explains our shameful relationship with the Cuban dictatorship and their defense of the international institutions“.

And do you know why this was made? To prevent people to know what they were talking about.

And more:

This contact wasn’t direct at all, because the President Zapatero named a person with reknown international prestige who has been given important posts in other precedent Governments.

The Supreme Tribunal President, Hernando has spoken about this piece of news:

[He] has assured that the ETA’s post office exists and also confirmed that a judge is investigating the relationship between the Government and the terrorist band.

Hernando, who was inagurating in Aranjuez a course about ‘The Judicial Power and the other State Powers“, was asked about the journalistic informations which appeared in relation with the judicial investigations related with ETA.

He did not wanted to comment on them, stating that “normally those news reflect the truth, but in other occasions they are only mere speculations“.

Interior Minister Rubalcaba has stated that, in the course of the negotiations, there has been contacts with several countries. He also spoke about the latest ETA terrorists’ detentions:

The detentions made a week ago in Paris, were also the object of some questions to the Minister, who assured the journalists that the detentions of Iker Beristain and Liher Rodríguez, summed up to the great quantity of material used to falsify documents, can be considered as the end of the “falsification organization of the terrorist band”. Rubalcaba also told that the police operation has offered “lots of information” which is being analysed and could be relevant.

The Government also asked France to free two ETA terrorists with whom it wanted to negotiate last March. The petition was made on August 2006.

The answer from the French Government was negative. “The problem”, says El País, “is that, in the moment of their detention, the two ETA terrorists were driving a car who had false registration and one of them was armed. No mecanism of emergence can ever serve to protect people who are caught in a criminal act in French territory“.

El País, left-leaning Spanish newspaper, is surprised that in France the law is applied against terrorists. But then foreign people consider it the epitome of independent thinking and journalism…

By the way, tomorrow it’s the anniversary of the brutal kidnapping of PP Councilman of Ermua Miguel Ángel Blanco. He was found with a bullet inside his brain two days later and died that same night. A bus has been travelling throughout Spain remembering him.

The reaction to his death was unanimous. ETA felt the grasp of decent people for the first time. Policemen had to defend Batasuna’s offices.

That was 10 years ago. ONLY ten years ago.

– Ibiza airport was evacuated on Saturday, after a bomb warning upset the start of the peak holiday season on the Mediterranean island, Spanish police said.

Local media said the Interior Ministry had stepped in to deny earlier reports of a controlled explosion at the airport. Police, government and airport officials were unavailable for immediate official comment on the media reports.

Police evacuated the airport after Basque newspaper Gara, used by the armed separatist guerrillas ETA to distribute information, received a telephoned warning of a bomb, Gara said on its website. But the caller did not say who they represented, which is usually the case with ETA.

Ibiza has long been a magnet for thousands of British and German holidaymakers and flights were diverted from the airport.

Basque rebels said on June 5 they were calling off a 15-month-old ceasefire, which the group had already effectively broken by bombing Madrid airport in December.

Spain’s Ibiza airport evacuated after bomb alert – Yahoo! News

It’s good that AP has taken notice that ETA effectively broke the ceasefire on Dec 30th when two persons where killed -something Zapatero does not-, but it does not say Socialist Government has been negotiating with ETA -that we have proof of-  till the week before the last May elections, negotiations which began two years before Zapatero came to power. But we suspect they are continuing just now.

In the end it was a false alert.

The Civil Guard has located today a car full of explosives in the city of Ayamonte (Huelva, South of Spain), according to sources from the armed institution.

The agency Vasco Press said that there were 100 of explosives and there were detonators, but a speaker from the Civil Guard in Madrid did not say what was the quantity.

Vasco Press informed that the car could have been abandoned by ETA, which ended the cease-fire this month and announced that it will begin a campaign “in all fronts“.

These last years, before the ceasefire, the band put several explosive devices in tourists resorts in their “summer campaing”.

‘Gara’ dice que el Gobierno y ETA pactaron sus declaraciones sobre la tregua | elmundo.es

The Government and ETA agreed on the statement of the permanent ceasefire of the band, and of the announcement of the PM, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, on June 29th in the Congress, when he officialised the beginning of the contacts with the terrorists, according to what the “abertzale” left’s newspaper says in its edition of today.

The newspaper points out that any of the two initiatives were unilaterally made and that both questions were “largelly debated, matured and agreed” by the speakers of both sides between July and November, 2005.  it also adds that they also agreed the so-called “warranties” and the conditions on the next paragraphs.

According to “Gara”, the agreement to search for a peace process were held in a distant European country between July 2005, with the assistance of an ETA’s delegation and Government’s representatives.

‘Gara’ says that they subscribed compromises of “political importance” which were ratified 4 months later. The agreement also included the declaration of ETA’s ceasefire and the fundamentals of the message adressed by Zapatero, and some warranties about what “Gara” informed a year ago.

Among the warranties, Zapatero agreed with ETA that he would not detain any ETA terrorists during the ceasefire. We have both De Juana case and Otegi’s to know that this is basically true.

Today a ETA terrorist, Iván Apaolaza Blanco, has been detained in Canada. He is the responsible of killing the Major Coronel Pedro Antonio Blanco with 200 kilos-explosive-car. Mr Blanco had signed an agreement to give his organs when dead. ETA terrorists even forbid him his last will of generosity to his fellow human beings.

Probably, you are thinking “hmm, why she hasn’t written about the meeting about the end of the ETA’s ceasefire?“. Well, the reality is that I do not know what to make of it. Rajoy went to see Zapatero at Moncloa’s Palace. Zapatero, even if it’s normal to do so, did not walk down the stairs to greet him, but stayed in the door, till Rajoy reached him. Before the meeting Zapatero had told in a TV interview that he “considers that he has the “moral authority” to ask the Popular Party for its support because he supported a lot the Government when he was in opposition“. That is really striking specially considering that pro-Socialist newspaper El País published an article in which they confirmed that Basque Socialists had been negotiating with ETA since 2002. So while Zapatero was signing the Antiterrorist Pact with Aznar.

aznar con ZP

Zapatero’s loyalty to anti-terrorist pact (Montoro para la Razón):

Zapatero: “Uy, I am going to get my pen, it has fallen again“.

Aznar: “This is the 25th time it has fallen. You look like an idiot, José Luis“.

ETA terrorist under the table: “I would much more say that he is too clever by half“.

The situation in Basque Country is so grave that the negotiators with ETA have begun to use the services of bodyguards, something that they have never needed.

Of course, international press has mentioned the support Rajoy stated, after the meeting. And the happiness of the socialists who thought he was going to maintain his tough stance.

So, why I do not know what to make of it? The lack of any kind of information about what happened in the meeting. Terrorism is a matter of national security, but also of citizens’ security. I want to know the ideas and why a change of them. Anything was cleared afterwards. And socialists are beginning to claim that ETA should not be named as if nothing happened.

But the question is: is there really a change in Zapatero’s ideas? Last informations are that he wants an agreement with Nafarroa Bai (Nationalists from Navarra and supporters of Batasuna-ANV, the ETA political party). This would not be the first Nafarroa Bai-Socialists agreement as José Ramón Martínez Benito has just acepted Nafarroa’s votes in Sartaguda, city in which UPN (PP backed) won the elections but failed to have an absolute majority.

The reality is that ETA has, in its hands, the result of next Spanish elections, something that was totally predictable following the breaking of Antiterrorist Pact and the ETA’s negotiation:

The duplicity that implies having supported the meetings between Eguiguren -the wife beater, must I add-Otegui, while promoting the Antiterrorist Pact which implicitly forbid them and expressly obliged the undersigning parts to informed each other about them, opens severe doubts about the credibility and honour of the president, not in a moral level -we are not asking that from the politicians at this stage! [*]- but in the simple eficiency level in administration where we have to judge Zapatero. As Ignacio Camacho writes for ABC, “we are in the worst of all posibilities”:

ETA is in the center of the stage, lord of the initiative and of the timings. We do not know if it’s stronger than before, but our State is less strong, as it is not united.

And as an important proof of that statement, Camacho writes that, from last Tuesday, when ETA made public the end of the ceasefire, the major states of both the main parties were doing polls about who is going to be the first probable victim of ETA.

Well, Camacho does not take into account that the statement that ETA is now more powerful has been repeated throughout the last days. The last one to say that has been Mesquida, General Director of Spanish Police and Civil Guard. There is even a report that says there are more than 70 not-filed-by-police members and that they can have more than 2.000 kilos of explosive. It also confirms the possibility of a high-profile terrorist attack.

ETA had plans to attack Almería’s airport, according to the documents police obtained from Donosti commando. The past elections showed that Popular Party allied with Almería’s Independent Group had again won the elections.

I’m going to be implacable. This is not the moment to blame anyone for anything… [Zapatero=Mr.Bean says]

Is he really going to be? I doubt it…Related news:

An online newspaper has reported Sarkozy considers ETA a French and European problem and that he was really angry with Zapatero when he came to Spain some weeks ago. But in Spain they reported that he has told this was only an Spanish problem. So, ehh, what version is true?

[*] I think that‘s the real problem of Spanish democracy: instead of pursuing elevated moral principles -without imposing them on nobody, just because it’s the correct thing to do-, we are just not asking them from the politicians, who are, in general, a total mess and shameful group. The reality is that there are not many to choose. 😦

Eeeh, how can I say this? Oh, yeah, I will imitate John Wayne, I must be considered in these moments as a hard man….

The Government’s President, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, has reassured he will be “implacable” against ETA’s menace and supported unity against the terrorist band, because “if democrats are not ready to pay a political price for the violence’s end, they should not pay the price of separation“.

Zapatero was referring to announcement of the end to ceasefire of the terrorist band before the Federal Committee of PSOE, who has met in Madrid to analyse, among other things, the results of the local and autonomical elections of last May 27th.

In a hard speech, the Executive chief underlined that to reach an agreement with all (also with the terrorists?) in anti-terrorist fight he won’t state any conditions or rectifications (no, Mr. President, the only one who has to rectify from past behaviour here is you). “That’s how -he said – the consensus is built, that’s the way to show the will to reach an agreement”.

Zapatero insiste en que será ‘implacable’ con ETA y aboga por la unidad | elmundo.es

WOW, I’m impressed! What a hard man! So, why on earth he has waited 3 years to be hard against ETA? Couldn’t he have begun a little sooner, for example, when he was negotiating with ETA while also negotiating with Aznar the Antiterrorist Pact?

aznar con ZP

Zapatero’s loyalty to anti-terrorist pact (Montoro para la Razón):

I totally agree with this:

In normal circumstances the Otegi’s detention, a despicable human being, would make me joyful. At this point, it makes me feel worried. Those of us who consider that the institutions should be credible and worthy can’t but consider as deplorable the irresponsibility with which Zapatero is using them -specially Justice- at his will, as if they were modeling clay, as if they were his own.

So now, it looks like De Juana has begun eating after he was again transferred to Aranjuez’s prison 2 days ago (why now he is eating and in the last hunger strike he did not? ). Eeh, well, no, my Times’ moonbats friends, don’t be worried about his present state of health: he has been eating also these two last days:

According to sources consulted by Cadena COPE Radio, the reality is that the [bloody ETA terrorist] has not been on hunger strike these last days but that have been eating from tin/can meals bought on the prison’s shop.

Yes, my Times’ moonbats friends, Spanish prisons have the option that, if a bloody terrorist doesn’t want to eat the normal prison meal, he can go to the prison’s shop and buy whatever he wants. While his victims (25) are now in their graves. But of course, their lives are NOT interesting to you, right? They are only victims. No interest in them. De Juana is much more interesting.

This same day we will have the abertzale left marching throughout San Sebastián to support Arnaldo Otegi, who was considered by Zapatero a “man of peace” but who has now being imprisoned (what a hard man, so implacable):

Otegi, detained yesterday by police in San Sebastián, entered Martutene’s prison at 13.00 p.m. The arrest was made after the Supreme Tribunal decided to confirm the punishment of 15 months in jail for terrorism’s apology.
The Supreme Tribunal says in its resolution that “the casation appeal was by no means accepted for breach of law and for law’s infraction or for the non-compliance with the constitutional principle pointed out by Arnaldo Otegi”. The resolution will be published shortly.
Representants from the Basque Government, Basque Nationalist Party, Basque Socialists, Popular Party and others and also for several unions, will take part in a demonstration which will be held today in Bilbao under the slogan ‘It’s our right: peace and freedom. ETA NO.

Another march will be held in Pamplona with the same slogan.

While in both Basque Country and Navarra, all of them are out in a demonstration, Zerolo -that politician whose only virtue is having converted his own homosexuality in the only reason to be on politics-&Co. continue to consider equal ETA terrorist band and Popular Party.

Girauta in an article for Libertad Digital:

Both the concessions and the renounces are very clear, we don’t need any king of tricked mirrors: has the ETA supporters been presented at the past May 27th elections? Has Butcher-De Juana received any favour treatment? Has Batasuna -also a terrorist organization- been able to act publicly? Has a debate about the “territory” or the “autodetermination” been considered (with those or other names)? Has the Prosecutor’s office adapted his measures to the “new conditions”? Did Patxi López -Basque Socialist- speak about understanding the enemies’ reasons? Did or not say the President that some terrorists were supporters of peace -I add one of them was Butcher De Juana-? By the way, an affirmative answer to these questions would result in a devastating moral concession: the legitimation of terrorism as a method to achieve political objectives.

UPDATE: My Spanish friend Crispal reaches the same conclusions about this matter that I have. And it’s curious because he is in Saudi Arabia, blogging from there as an infidel.

You have given them everything they have wanted. You have let them rearme themselves, reorganise themselves, present themselves to Spanish elections, etc. And now you say, ZP, that you are going to fight them as they are not trustful people. So Aznar was right. Or you have run out of disposition? –Zapatero insisted on his electoral campaign “yo tengo talante”, that is “I have disposition”. People who did not like him asked then: but that disposition is good or bad? Of course, he never answered…. –

You are the most irresponsible leader Spain has had since there is democracy here. Your idiocy has driven us to an abyss.

The Intelligent Services suspect that the terrorist organization ETA has in this moment some infraestructure inside Basque Country. Just the same as happened with Donosti commando, this infraestructure has been leadered, during the cease fire, by some “free” members of the band and some other legal (does not have been detected by police), with infraestructure and waiting for receiving orders, informed to Europa Press antiterrorism sources.

The activity of inside Spain during ceasefire had as main facts, the detentions of the Vizcaya “commandos“, last December, and “Donosti”, last March. In both cases, there were discovered a great quantity of explosives and material, to build car-bombs, or to put limpet-bombs in the car’s lower parts.

Spanish police

With the operation against Donosti, a “free” member and other 9 legal members were detained. But the investigations made afterwards made possible the identification of another dozen of terrorists with links to the detained. One of them is specially dangerous, according to Security Forces. His name is Ekatiz Aguirre Goñi, ‘Ehun’ or ‘Oskarbi’. With him, the chief of Donosti command had a meeting on march 24th in Aizkorri, between Alava and Guipúzcoa.

The coordinator of ETA commandos, Garikoitz Aspiazu, ‘Txeroki’, has asked Lerín to meet ‘Ehun’ to give him some orders. What Security Forces think is that ‘Ehun’ could be making just now the same funcitons that Lerín in Guipúzcoa, but in other basque Country’s areas. The ‘Ehun’ fingertips were in the documents that Basque Police Ertzaintza found in terrorist hands when they flee from Vizcaya after being discovered the “hiding place” of Atxondo on December 23rd, 2006.

The same sources underline that the terrorists will probably come from France to kill here, to “celebrate” the ceasefire, as it happened on Dec 30th. According to them, they underline the ease ETA has to introduce a car loaded with explosives, abandon it with a temporiser and go back to France, before it explodes, not to be caught by Security Forces.

ETA terrorist band announced last night that ends the “ceasefire” since this last night. The terrorists say in a communiqué that publishes Berria in its web page that “there are not the minimum conditions to achieve the negotiation process” and that Zapatero’s Government “has answered with a hault in the armed actions with detentions, tortures and presecutions».

Ha also critisizes Basque Nationalist Party, about whom he says that he “has lost the mask” and accusses of “lying when it has to defend Euskal Herria». The band reiterates the need to carry on «a liberation process that ends with an indenpendent process and denounces that the freedom of the people has as enemy the treason» [That’s why you kill always shooting people at the back, ehh].

ETA made effecive this «truce» on March, 24th, 2006. Since then, in a year and a month, it was responsible for the ETA terrorist attack on Terminal 4 of Barajas Airport murdering 2 people. (There is another one, an old man who was killed by the kale borroka).

After ETA has succeded in entering the councils -more than half of the ANV’s candidatures- ETA is pressing more the Executive, as an ultimatum.

Experts had been considering the elections of March 27th as a D Day, which could bury the yet agonising process, or, on the contrary, reanimate the next colapse. This uncertainty, the threaten of new ETA terrorist attacks in the electoral campaign and the possibility of an electoral Socialist failure, made the Government’s representants to have some talks with them on April. Talks which were a total failure.

ABC.es: nacional – terrorismo – ETA anuncia que da por finalizado el «alto el fuego permanente»

It does this AFTER ZAPATERO HAS LET IT ENTER INSTITUTIONS AND HAVE MONEY FROM THE SPANISH BUDGET. WE ARE GOING TO BE KILLED WITH OUR OWN MONEY. smile_angryAND BLOODY TERRORIST DE JUANA IS IN THE STREETS (he even has menaced with another hunger strike IF he has a GPS bracelet put on).

Just in case, I am not happy that the negotiation is over. I am angry because we have been saying it for months. And the Government hasn’t even considered to listen to us. You, idiot appeasers.

Even the Government had been informed that the process was going to end and that the terrorist band, as it has happened this night, was going to announce the definite end of the truce. On Monday, the sources consulted by Europa Press stated that they were pessimistic and pointed that the truce was going to be broken at any time, because of the “irreconceivable differences of concept” between the Executive and the terrorist band. There is sense then in the information given by newspaper El País about an inminent terrorist attack [or near the next year’s general elections].

Here what BBC has written about it.

Now for the bloggers’ reaction:

If yesterday, we knew that the Government wants to sanction Foro Ermua for convoking some demonstrations -when he didn’t-, today we have known that the bloodiest of all ETA terrorists is going home, with an electronic device in his wrist, as had been announced. The decision comes after the elections and has provoked a real uproar in Spain. Lately he was going out of the hospital on a daily basis, costing the security of those strides 120€ daily in security.

Meanwhile, the PSOE negotiator with ETA, Eguiguren, the man who was condemned for beating his wife, is now counselling Zapatero to make a pact to lead Navarra’s Government’s with ANV, ETA-Batasuna’s party at last elections, telling him “you will be remembered for ending terrorism“.

Today there are elections in Spain. It’s true they are not for Government’s President but they are going to be very important.

First for Navarra. Batasuna wants Navarra to be a part of the future mega-Basque state, that they maintain is formed by Spanish Basque Country, Navarra and French Basque Country. Of course, France has always denied any claim in this respect, but the French flag is also burned by Batasuna’s thugs allongside with Spanish one.

If Unión del Pueblo Navarro (center-right) wins the election with absolute majority, this project is not going to see the light. But if they lose it, and a coalition between Socialists and Nafarroa Bai (friends of Batasuna in Navarra) wins the project will take shape.

If we go back in history, Navarra was the last kingdom to be conquered by Spanish troops in the 10’s years of the XVI in a campaign leadered by the Catholic king Ferdinand with Basque troops, mainly. Navarra had been independent throughout all the Middle Ages, and their kindgs often pledge allegiance to French kings. In fact, its kings were for a long time from the French house of Foix.

Second, Balearic islands. A bit more of the same. If PP wins the elections with absolute majority, nothing happens. If it loses to Socialists and nationalists, it will be a new step planted towards the Països Catalans state.

Balearic Islands, a Muslim pirate resort during the Middle Ages, was conquered by Aragon’s king Jaume Ist, named the Conqueror, as Catalans wanted as they thought that it was going to be a marvellous spot for merchants. As a result, they entered the Aragon’s kingdom -Catalonia was a part of it, whose leader was a Count, the Count of Barcelona, nowadays one of the titles of the king.

After that, we have to jump till the Succesion war, after the death of King Charles II, of the Austria house -the last one in fact– in 1699. In his last will, this disgraced king said that his inheritance should go, first to Archiduke Joseph Ferdinand, who died prematurely and then to Philip, duke of Anjou, and the grandson of King Luis XIV, le Roi Soleil. The other European countries, who weren’t interested in a Spanish-French empire -in fact, Spanish did not want it also – began a war.

The result of it was the peace of Utretch -by which Spain gave, among other territories, Gibraltar, for a period of 10 years, and Menorca to the English. Menorca is the second island in importance of the Balearic islands and it was reconquered after by the same Ferdinand in a campaign that was made specially to touch the balls -pardon the expression!!– of his famous cousin Louis XV, who had tried to meddle in Spanish affairs.

The Sucession war meant other thing also: the end to the Medieval “priviledges” for ones or “rights” for others. The union made by the Cathlic kings was one of the countries but not of institutions and laws. Each of them had their own privildeges. When Borbon house began reigning, they wanted a centralised state, something that were opposed to in general all the Aragon’s kingdom realms. Why? Because Borbon house wanted all of them governed by Castilla’s laws as this was going to make more agile the administrative functions in a very French position.

And Philip Vth used Spanish-French victory over troops from England, Portugal and Netherlands (the United Provinces) to impose his views by abolishing the laws who had swore the kings of Austria house.

Thirdly, for Spain itself. We will see what happens to our Nation. Mr Zapatero does not know what a Nation is and mainly consider Spain as a nation of nations.

First news include Zapatero is booed when casting his vote in Madrid’s voting station and Manuel Chavez, the president of the Autonomous Community of Andalucía, has recognised the Presidential elections could be scheduled for months before they were planned. The reason is the difficult negotiation over the budget now that the Catalonian Statute states that Catalonia has to be returned by the Central State the same amount it gives to it.

The Presidental elections could be held on Oct 28, 2007. The President Zapatero also wnats this as the polls are now a bit favorable for him (ehem) 40% PSOE and 38,8 PP. And he does not want time to change that figure.

ANV’s sympathisers (Batasuna’s party for these elections) are making fuss in Navarra and Basque Country. They have insulted several politicians, have tried to vote identificating themselves with the Basque National Identity Card, although they have been forbidden to do so. Even the Civil Guard has had to intervene in Navarra’s city of Barañaín, where some youths with an aggressive attitude wanted to storm into a voting station. They have even imposed ANV’s interventors were ANV’s electoral lists were illegalised by the Supreme Tribunal.

Yesterday, ETA sympathisers threw stones to the Government’s Delegate Office in Vitoria, and to the PP offices in Llodio. The Basque National Party in Guernika was attacked with bottles full of red painting.

Tenerife’s PSOE called by midnight to 1.800 voters to ask them to vote PSOE. The incolved candidate, Santiago Pérez, has asked for forgiveness and blamed on a manipulation of the service -they were automated– or a electronic error the calls.

The National Association of BodyGuards is in alert even if they do not know what to expect as the Government hasn’t given any information about possible risks to them:

About the agressions and menaces during the electoral campaign, the Association’s speaker, Vicente de la Cruz, has stated that they have not counted them but that they have been “numerous”. “There has been a surge in insults and provocations, something that shows the absolute freedom and the impunity this people have”. His association has asked for detentions, but the situation is evident “for all except for the one who has to do it”, he continued.

De la Cruz has denounced that “there has been an absolute permisibility” for the pro-ETA supporters, who have been the “real lords of this campaign”. “They have coerced all the candidates from PP, specially in little villages”. “there has been an important surge in the demand of bodyguards by Magistrates and politicians” since the ETA terrorist attack of Barajas’ 4th terminal (Madrid), last Dec, 30. “This is the moment in history curiously, where more bodyguards are working”, he concluded.

Today we have also known of the death of an Spanish soldier in Afghanistan:

Sergeant  -I had mistaken his rank before- Juan Antonio Abril Sánchez (photo, right) was killed at 12.4juan antonio abril0 local hour (10.10 a.m. in Spain). The 4×4 in which they were patrolling in the district of Qades, 25 km far from the city of Qala e Naw, where is based the Spanish provincial reconstruction equipment (PRT), which belongs the 4×4 to.

He was 30 years old and was born in Zaragoza -Saragossa-. He has married 8 moths ago and belonged to the Mountain Hunters Regiment “America 66” based in Pamplona (Navarra). His brother, also militar, has stated that “he lived for his job and was very proud of it”. His twin brother is also a military man.

Two other soldiers were hurt in the accident.

RIP.

PP is going to ask for the real causes of the death of Sergeant Abril Sánchez and they will demand the higher distinction for him. They also want to ask why it took 6 hours for the Ministry of Defense to report officially about his death. Before the news broke to MSM, the Defense Minister, Antonio Alonso, was at an official parade in León. Neither the Minister, not the State Military Chief , General Félix Sanz Roldán, made any statement then and they already knew it.

UPDATE!: NATO says that Sergeant Abril death has been caused by a explosive device, “during overnight operations in Afghanistan“.

Original post in Spanish here

This campaign has some very important characteristics: corruption, violence against PP and appeasement of the Government to ETA, basically.

In Sevilla, PP has announced that it has been discovered that the Majorship, ruled by the Socialists, was sending by fax instructions to forge official receipts. The Major has said nothing about this.

PSOE has also been accused of corruption in the Malaya case, something which can give the Majorship directly to PP.

Precisely it was the Malaya case the one who could have given a heart attack to the nowadays Madrid’s Major and Pp candidate to the same post on May 27th elections Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón in a TV debate. In the middle of the debate, Miguel Sebastián, PSOE candidate to Major and before  that Director of the powerful Economic Office of the Presidency, showed him a photo of Montserrat Corulla, a very beautiful lawyer who has been accused of acting as “man of straw” in teh Malaya case and asked him if he had “something to do with someone related to this corruption net. As Ms. Corulla is very beautiful and it was rumoured that he had an affaire with Ruiz-Gallardón, the latter answered he was not going to answer about personal matters. Some people I have been speaking with consider that Sebastián wanted Ruiz-Gallardón to ask him about his homosexuality -and present him as an homophobe-, as it is rumoured that Sebastián is homosexual. Well, nowadays it looks like that is Sebastián the one who has something to do in the Malaya case. PP has already asked him for it.

From the Economic office of the Presidence, Sebastián&Co. prepared an assault on BBVA, using the old -and unethical- tactic of accusing its president, Francisco González, of having committed tax crime/administrative infraction, something which was denounced by Manuel Conthe, ex-president of CNMV (Spanish SEC). Anyway, is BBVA now free of the wrongdoings of the EOP? Looks like that it isn’t. And the benefits would be -again- for Italy and Mr. Prodi.

Even the Basque Nationalist Party that normally has not been involved in any corruption phenomenon, has a senator, Víctor Bravo, ex-director of Guipúzcoa Budget  Office, who has been accused of “diminishing” the debts some people had for not having taxes if they pay earlier and it was paid to him.  This has not been the first case in the last months that the Basque Nationalists are accused of corruption: some others (for example, Juan Ramón Ibarra o José María Bravo) were doing the same. The fact that the BNP has been ruling the Community in most part of the 30 years since democracy came could have been the cause for not having discovered more cases of corruption within this party.

But there are other tyoes of corruption appearing this days: Canarian Coalition  has denounced PSOE for a  fraudulent growth of the  electoral lists in the Canary Islands in the areas where the PSOE is ruling:

Coalición Canaria ha presentado una denuncia ante la Junta Electoral Provincial por el incremento fraudulento del censo electoral en municipios de La Gomera gobernados por el PSOE. Concretamente, en Vallehermoso CC ha detectado graves irregularidades al incrementarse el censo electoral, respecto al anterior de 2003, en barrios o calles ‘en los que apenas existen habitantes desde hace 25 años’.

The same thing looks like that has happened in Galicia and in Valencia. Just the same Venezuelan Bolivarian Chávez made in the past.

About agressions toPPthey have continued throughout these past days and nothing indicates they are going to stop:

17.05.07 Mataró (Barcelona). The PP office appears with the word “fachas” (fascists) in the walls and in the surroundings it could be read “go out of a worker’s quarter”.

19.05.07. Getafe (Madrid). Unkown people painting to the electoral posters and the main PP office in the city. -in this locality nº2 is Gica Craioveanu, a Romanian footballer-. The Pp candidate has already said that they are not going to stop working for change.

20.05.06. San Sebastián. A hundred pro-ETA intimidated, insulted and menaced the PP candidate to San Sebastián’s Major, María José Usandizaga, when she had finished an electoral act in the Olf Part of the city. She had to take refuge in a store because of the lack of Basque policemen in the area.

20.05.07. Torrelodones (Madrid). There are damages in PP billboards and posters and insulting paintings against PP in other publicity places..

20.05.07. Coslada (Madrid). A group of people throw stones to the PP electoral van. they also insulted them, calline them “fascists” and menaced them with “Hope that they put a bomb and kill you all”.

The last one has taken place today in Valencia -another explosive was set some days ago there too-. The Government has not condemned any of these acts which are totally against a normal democratic and peaceful behaviour.

But Granada’s PSOE has called the youths to a “macrobotellón” -that is, where people drink alcohol till they are so drunk that some of them even finish it with an alcohol coma [think that it is said like that…smile_omg]- against PP the night before the elections (the so-called reflection day). The prosecutor has already denounced the initiative.

Moving over to the terrorist subject, the Catalan terrorist group Terra Lliure, after TV3 -Catalan public TV- made a documentary nearly praising them has issued a death threat against Albert Ribera, 27-year-old and president of the new party Ciutadans de Cataluña (Catalonian citizens). The important thing here is that Terra Lliure had been a lot of years without appearing in the public scene -in fact, it was officialy dissolved in the 90’s-. Albert Rivera has said that he is not scared because of the threats.

The pro-ETA newspaper GARA has issued some fascicles in which they sum up how the negotiation with the Goverment has happened. And there are surprising -or not?- revelations.

It’s absolutely shameful to read that PSOE representant in the negotiations, Jesús Eguiguren (accused and convicted for hitting his wife, something which is striking being this a so-feminist self-called Government…) asked textually to the ETA terrorists: “Slow down please the degree of your menaces. Nwither PP nor socialists dissidents and never to women”. And he continues: “because that is, in the public opinion, horrible for us, who are helping you all that we can“. Just to sum up: someone who has been convincted for hitting his wife, asks the terrorists with the “please” before. Delicious, isn’t it. And coherent. My goodness, this man should be out of politics since the day he was convicted…

Even Gara has publishedthat a year ago the Government agree with them to close a “treaty” for the Basque country before July 31st this year.. And that Otegi -Batasuna’s president- is out of jail because of another agreement between PSOE and Batasuna– he was accused of praising terrorism-.

The revering position of this Government, that we could observe in Eguiguren, has produced a multiplication of support for the so-called izquierda abertzale [abertzale left] -they are nothing but the people who support ETA- and the agressions to politicians of all sort (also the Spanish Minister of Justice or Basque nationalist Party politicians) and in the classroom (more here). they have even interrupted a meeting at the Majorship of San Sebastián, ruled by the not-very-much-admired Odón Elorza, in favor of the dialogue with the terrorists.

Today ETA has also exploded a low explosive to a Socialist Candidate. Joseba Elola has pointed out that he is frightened but that never he had been threatened before by the abertzale.

Navarra is going to be the key in the process: if UPN (right) does not take the absolute majority (half and 1) of the total seats in the Autonomous Community, Navarra will -with 99% probability- be united with basques in the first step to the independence of both Communities. The problem is that Socialist base in Navarra are not speaking about this possibility. As a result of the tense situation and to increase that sensation, Navarra is full of anti-system groups today. Because they know the importance of the event.

In this climate is not surprising that the concentrations called by Foro de Ermua and another similar associations against negotiation were forbidden by the Government, for example in Madrid.

ETA has also announced that the bloody terrorist Josu Ternera will continue to be its representant in the negociation. The wife-hitter negotiating with the terrorist Spain’s future. Hmm, what a perspectivesmile_confused

It is also quite surprising the plittle coverage and attention MSM are giving to the Gallician independentist terrorism. Since Socialists and Galician nacionalists arrived to power last years attacks have increased with home-made devices planted in strategic places and with notes written in Galician-portuguese, a modality only spoken by Galician nationalists:

The political leaders have not condemned these acts.

Everything is complicated by the march 11th bombings investigation, that shows that anything is very clear. The superior policeman in charge of the proofs derived from the explosions, Sánchez Manzano (more than 30 years in the force and the main actor in the polemic about the boric acid) did not keep the explosives properly.

It is not strange than that Zapatero was booed yesterday when visiting his granfather’s village -you know, the one killed by Franco, who was a double agent for both the republicans and the nationals in the war (more here, even when the Spanish Public TV does not show it. And it is not strange that Bilbao’s streets have been covered with posters against Zapatero and ETA terrorist De Juana saying: “25 víctimas do not at any more. ZP do not negotiate with our deads”. nor that the Wall Street journal alerts about the growing uneasiness because of … ZP.

From ABC.es:

The special Police Corp Tedax (explosives experts) has de-activated an explosive device in an industrial loft in Lugo which belonged to the building firm Mon, according to policial sources.
The device was localised outside the building, situated in an industrial area in O Ceao, and consisted in a pressure cooker with explosive inside build mainly of screws and a detonator.
According to a policial speaker, if the device would have exploded, it would have been “a massacre”. Once de-activated, the device was carried away to the experts in de-activation of explosives to analyse their composition and search for possible leads.
The police received the call that alerted of the existence of the device around 3 o’clock in the afternoon. In the offices of two newspapers in Lugo some e-mails written in Galician-Portuguese “against the destruction, generalised resistence”.
The message contained a reference to the explosive device and also accused the building firm Mon as “responsible of urban damages” in the city of Lugo.

There has been more menaces against a PP member, now in Catalonia (yesterday I wrote that there has been several attacks in past days):

The candidate of Catalan Popular Party to be Major of Ulldecona, Isabel Salas, has denounced this Tuesday before the Civil Guard that she has received menaces against her and against the party she represents.
According to the popular candidate’s communiqué, on Monday night she received in the local office of PPC in Ulldecona a piece of newspaper where the aggressions suffered by a councilor on Basque Country were reported. With the photo of the beaten councillor, it is written “You will be the next” or “Isabel go to Spain“.In El Vendrell PPC has seen how since the beginning of the campaign, the propganda has been systematically torn apart.

But, without doubt, the worst of all the acts has been the one happened in the Madrid’s village of San Fernando de Henares. Some unknown people have written “ETA kill them” in a photo of PP’s candidate to Major in the propaganda shown in the streets (photo, left).

But in other photos of candidates, the PP candidates are called “murders”:
Some more menaces: to the candidate to Major of Mostoles: Parro, we are going to kill you:
So, what do this people want? A new Civil War? No opposition -that is, to begin a new dictatorship-? Riots?

The other important item has been the appearance of ANV (Basque Nationalist Action). This political party did not support the violence on 1978 but the next year it entered on the orbit of Batasuna-ETA.

The terrorist platform presented another party before: Abertzalen Sozialisten.

As I wrote here, a political party can be illegalised if it’s defending violence or supporting terrorism.

So the question was: Do ANV or AS defend violence or support terrorism?

The Supreme Tribunal consider totally against law all the electoral lists from Abertzalen Socialista and a great part of the ANV. In its resolution, the Magistrates from Special 61 considered that they could have anulled all the lists from ANV, if the Government had began the right process. The Tribunal considered that, as ANV was used as a fraud the right process was to declare totally void ALL the party. They also consider that ANV is the the heir of Batasuna.

There are protests scheduled for May 22nd whose objective will be to ask for the illegalization of ANV.

But the worst thing regarding Spanish politics, is that, after seeing bloody ETA terrorist De Juana Chaos in a video, broader and fatter, when PP has pushed in Parliament a vote to return him to prison, all parties except PP, have voted against it. They have voted for De Juana not to be in jail for the rest of his punishment. And they have done it before the victims, specially before Gerardo, one of the elite policemen from TEDAX corps, whose colleague Esteban del Amo was killed by a bomb put by De Juana. Genaro’s life was saved thanks to Del Amo’s heroism: knowing that he was going to die, Del Amo sprang and put his body between the bomb and Genaro. No body was found, just some little pieces.[We will be eternally grateful to British newspaper The Times for their photos about De Juana].

Gerardo after the bomb exploded. Thanks, The Times. And thanks, every one and to the last you cowards of Spanish Parliament. Do you see this man’s hands? Well, that is nothing to what happened to Del Amo: his remains were nowhere. What would happen if instead of them, would have been your sons and daughters?

Yes, I know that I normally do not write things like this. Normally I only write facts, but this is so grave, so insulting, so wrong…

The protest against PSOE for these acts has already surfaced Second Life:

The menaces to non-nationalists continue in Basque Country. Philosopher Savater has said: “we do not need human solidarity, we need political solidarity”. Well, seeing how the campaign is going, I see there is little human solidarity in some circles and politicians.

By the way, this is the hour, that neither the Socialists, Communists or Nationalists have condemned the menaces and harrasment of PP or Ciutadans candidates.

To foreigners who do not like Spanish politics, and consider that ETA should not be considered, because it’s just a “Spanish issue“, just tell them, that De Juana had gone on hunger strike twice last year, that he achieved what he wanted (2nd penitentiary grade, while having a magnificent share of penitentiary priviledges). Well, 14 of the Islamists who are accused of Madrid March 11 bombings are on hunger strike:

The accused on hunger strike are the accused of being the material authors: Jamal Zougam and Basel Ghalyoun; the accused of belonging to terrorist organisation: Mouhannad Almallah Dabas, Mohamed Larbi bem Sellam, Otman el Gnaoui, Rachid Aglif and Abdelilah el Fadoual el Akil; and the accused of collaborating with terrorist organisation: Hamid Ahmidan y Mahmoud Slimane Aoun.

We also have to add the two ideologues: the Egyptian and Mouhamed Belhadj, who is also the ideologue of the hunger strike.

But Judge Bermúdez has warned them he is not going to stop the process, just because they are feeling bad as a result of the hunger strike -some of them are also not drinking liquids. In his words:

We are informing the accused that if they continue with this attitude they are going to be expelled temporally or definitively from the oral phase and the process will continue in their absence. So, the process will not be suspended by that motive. But some measures can be reinforced such as issue an order to make them drink water or have food with or without their will.

The message is clear: if De Juana is out in the streets, why we cannot? If Zapatero is negotiating with ETA why not with us?

Barcepundit also notes this puts the Government in a rather bad situation. Situation that would be worse if opposition (=PP, the rest of the groups are no opposition at all), would also point out the obvious fact…

And the fact that the pericial report has not pointed out what kind of explosives were used does not help…

Other news:
The murderer of Tomás y Valiente, ex-President of the Spanish Constitutional Tribunal, Bienzobas -below-, has been condemned to 30 years in prison. Let’s hope he is not given the 2nd grade tomorrow, because, well, let’s be pacifist for a while and we must speak with anyone.

Both Councilmen had been followed by the ETA commando “Donosti”, recently caught, which wanted to kill them in case ETA Terrorist De Juana died in his hunger strike. Ramón Gómez and Teresa Vélez, had announced three months ago their intention of leaving political life to began working in the private sector and dedicate their time to their new born child, aged 10 months. Now police has discovered ETA had precise information -they have been followed and their personal data being controlled- to assassinate them.

This is not the first time they had appeared in the ETA lists of assassination objectives.

ETA also had information about a policeman of San Sebastián and of Pedro Miguéliz, Txofo, a protected witness of the National Court in the case of Lasa and Zabala’s torture and death by Gal squads -paradoxically both Lasa and Zabala were ETA terrorists and they were killed by Gal, an organisation built by some Socialist members in Government and the own police to eliminate ETA terrorists-. Txofo’s protection had been retired by National Court two months ago.

ETA plan was to kill the policeman by shots in a bar in San Sebastian. They were ordered to kill him automatically after the death of De Juana. ETA members discovered that this police agent used to go to a bar in the quarter of Amara and had been following him since June 22nd 2006. They had even planned it,  marking the chair in which the police agent used to sit. The commando terrorist would enter the “w.c.” to put a mask on and to charge the gun and when going out, he would shoot the agent.

The same people had also followed the Basque philosopher and member of the platform Basta Ya Fernando Savater. Also there was information about some other police agents and a military man, whose car had been controlled and knew where he used to park it in the night.

Eeh, they are very peaceful, aren’t they?

This comes as EUROPOL has announced terrorist group ETA has reorganised itself during the truce and now it is capable enough to attack great objectives and had organised and coordinated itself against high-level objetives. The report also defines the responsible criminals of kale borroka (street fight) as “organised and independent groups formed by young sympathisers of ETA who, following the gang’s instructions, attack objectives using technics of urban guerilla“. They have counted 144 acts of this nature both in Spain and France.

They also point out the rise in the activity of “the groups of nationalist-separatist Galizian [thugs]” in Portugal and in the Spanish frontier and points out that the independentist organizations were the ones who made the majority of the terrorist actions in European territory last year, making a total of 424.

The French anti-globalisation candidate José Bové has announced he supports the creation of a département of the French Basque Country, a long cherised dream by ETA terrorists&Co.

Spanish Penal Code (Organic Law Nov 23rd, 1995), Article 18.1, paragraph 2nd:

Apology is, to the effects of this Code, the exposition, before a group of people or by any MSM, of ideas or ideologies that praise the crime or its author. Apology will only constitute a crime as a way of provocation and, if by its nature and circumstances is a direct incitement to commit a crime.

On 2001 Otegi gave a speech in which he praised the gudari (“Basque soldier“) Olaia Castresana who was killed by the explosion of the bomb which she was going to explode on next days. He also told young people on the meeting to follow her example.

The criminal process to judge him for these facts had been postponed on several occassions.

The day was fixed for yesterday. But Otegi was not in the trial. When asked, he said that he could not reach Madrid because of the weather.

The President of the Tribunal asked the Police to make sure that these circumstances were true. And he sent the Police to catch him.

The trial was held but:

The Prosecutor of the National Court Fernando Burgos has retired the accusation against the speaker of the illegalised Batasuna Arnaldo Otegi, for whom the Prosecutor’s office was asking for 15 months of jail in the provisional accusation based on a crime of praising ETA terrorist Olaia Castresana. That supposses his acquittal because of the retirement of the accusation and the archive of the cause, as there were no other accused part in the process.

This Prosecutor was the same one who asked only for the 2nd grade to De Juana Chaos.

Spanish Justice Minister Bermejo has declared that this is a normal decision and the PP critics are just interested. PP politicians have declared that this is a humiliation for the State.

Also here.

Today a concentration is being held before the State General Prosecutor. The Police has proceed to identify the people who had arrived there first.

Law Association Tomás Moro has iniciated a criminal action against the State General Prosecutor, Mr. Conde-Pumpido, and the Prosecutor in charge of Otegi’s case, Burgos. h/t El Cerrajero.

Today there have been several demonstrations, but two of them have been more important than the rest.

Flag of Navarra

In Navarra, demonstrators were protesting against the lack of clarity the Government has shown regarding Batasuna’s proposition of merging Navarra into a mega-Basque Country Autonomous Community. According to the Government Delegate, there has been 73,000 people and according to the Autonomous Police, 103,000. The demonstration had a clearly happy character, of celebration, which was boosted by the songs which the speakers uncesantly played.

Demonstration in Navarra

The slogan was “Fuero -traditional Navarra’s Laws- and Freedom: Navarra is not negotiable”:

Of course, the central Government has said this demonstration was an idiot thing, “Because Navarra is not negotiable”. The problem is, Zapatero did not clearly said that at a radio interview last week.

(ABC.es, El Mundo, LD)

Otegi has stated today that the “proposal of the “abertzale” left does not sell Navarra“.

By the way, ETA has begun again the extorsion to firms and businessmen in Basque Country. The reason? They do not have money. The quantities are between 60,000 and 70,000 €.

Then there has been a demonstration in Madrid to protest for the Iraqi war. The organization has said 400,000 people have gone.

Elentir also blogs this demonstration:

In the demonstration held today in Madrid PSOE (socialists) made, they have asked for the ilegalization of the Popular Party (center-right), as Radio COPE has reported a while ago. The radio has also remarked the presence of some portraits of the Russian dictator and genocide Lenin. Moreover, a lot of unconstitutional II Republic flags has been seen, as even the pro-Government newspaper El País has reported.

No to Iraqi war, yes to Lenin?

Photo from Díaz Villanueva blog.

They have also called for the closure of Guantanamo.
