Saturday night

This one is not only marvellous because of what you can see, but because the one who sings is my favorite singer, Josh Groban:

And, for me, the best of all of the videos from Cirque du Soleil:

Enjoy them!

One of the things that were more shocking about the leftist opposition to Aznar in the 2 years before the 2004 elections was precisely the systematic agressions on PP members. But, as Aznar and PP considered that the possibility of punishing them criminally was possibly going to surge the conflict, no one was punished nor even criminally prosecuted nor any process was begun because of these attacks.
There has been 4 days of campaign in these elections and yet there had been 8 agressions on PP members:

13.05.07. Burgos. Unknown people attack the campaign office of the PP in the Burgos’ quarter of Gamonal. Some painting balls were shot in the exterior walls of the office.
13.05.07. San Agustín de Guadalix (Madrid). Unknown people destroyed the scenery for a meeting and the exterior cristals of the party offices in this peaceful -normally- village in the north mountains in the Autonomous Community of Madrid.
13.05.07. Alcorcón (Madrid). Radicals beat and insult two militants of PP who were giving electoral propaganda after a football game between Alcorcón and Orense. 15 people got near the PP’s van and “insulted, threw stones at them and had baseball sticks”, according to the popular candidat in this other Madrid’s village, Fernando Díaz Robles.
12.05.07. Pinto (Madrid). The PP members of this locality -also from Madrid- denounces that they have been called “fascists” by some paintings in the exterior walls of their offices.
12.05.07. Móstoles (Madrid). Some menacing paintings appear in the offices of PP in this other Madrid’s village.
12.05.07. Valencia. A home-made artifact explodes in the lateral side of the office of PP in Valencia, st. Beato Gaspar Bono. The explosion caused damages in a window.
12.05.07. Bilbao. Pro-ETA terrorists beat and throw stones to the PP speaker in Sondica, Nerea Alzola, and the PP candidate to councilor of the village of Ermua, Virginia Arroyo, when they were sticking electoral propaganda in the square Sagrado Corazón in Bilbao. These are these two brave women: Virginia Arroyo, first -who was punched in the face and has a broken tooth- and Nerea Alzola, who has been threatened by ETA terrorists repeatedly.

11.05.07. Morales del Vino (Zamora). The PP candidate to the city’s Major, José María Barrios, that is the actual Major and temporal vice-president of the Zamora’s province Diputation, denounced the United Left Candidate before the Civil Guard after insulting, menacing and scratching and breaking his shirt. The United Left candidate also menaced his son, a minor.

Today, the Madrid’s Major Alberto Ruiz Gallardón, Ana Botella y Pedro Calvo were insulted fueron in a meeting held in Villa de Vallecas (11.30 this morning).
One of the insulting bodies, who received the PP candidates calling them “killers“, was identified by PP members as the district’s PSOE speaker, Amalia Rodríguez Alonso. The socialist shouted several times “killers” and then she shouted Ana Botella, Aznar’s wife and one of Madrid’s councilors, shouting her: “tell your husband about the dead of Santa Eugenia”, in reference to the March 11 bombings.

The PSOE candidates and, especially, the President of the Government, Zapatero, have said nothing about this. What is more, the Minister of Justice, Mr. Bermejo, has asked to vote PSOE to “give PP a good laxative” because PP “has a partial mind constipation”.

At the same time, Alfonso Alonso, PP candidate to be Vitoria’s Major, has said that “no PP member will give a stride back in the today’s climate of pressure“.

Rajoy has also called on Zapatero to guarantee the Basque PP candidates’ freedom when campaigning.

Others blogging about this subject:

Batiburrillo: We are living in a totally anormal country regarding democratic values. No one can be deceived on this. When an ex-President of the Government, Felipe González Márquez, calls “MSM rubbish” to the most popular journalists in Spain, when a Minister -even if she is a women’s share Minister, she is a Minister- expresses publicly her wish of killing the President of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, or when the main opposition party goes from agression to agression (we wrote before LD about this here), and at the same time, is labeled as a “far-right-extremist”, something is not working in this country.

Desde el Exilio: writes about the reaction in Menéame, a web similar to Digg but in Spanish, in which some people are laughing about Virginia Arroyo and Nerea Alzola.

Elentir points out the total contradiction in PSOE’s arguments: the PSOE speaker in Parliament -I think he is…- Mr López Garrido, has said today that PP members are the speakers of ETA!!!

Espacio Liberal congratulates PP members for their behaviour regarding the agressions.

Anghara links Spanish leftist writer Elvira Lindo in a very good article: “Spain is full of fascists”. She ironically, describes the situation like this “oh, thank God there were those guardian angels, knowing about the riot-like deed these two young women were doing -referring to Nerea Alzola and Virginia Arroyo-, left their pintxito and arrived there to give them both a lesson”.

La Verdad os Hará Libres considers that it is inevitable to link these events with the agressions to PP offices before the 2004 elections.

Prevost titles his post “The violent left: Alcorcón and Guadalix”. He also links to Criterio in which they report about the violence against Catalan party Ciutadans. The independentists, calling the Ciutadans “españolistas”, have arrived at the entry of the Civic Center Fort Pienc of Barcelona where Ciutadans’ MP in Catalan Parliament, Alfonso Robles, was giving a conference. The Police had to arrive to protect the people who were attending the conference.

El Cerrajero, Caballero ZP and Cambiemos el Mundo also write about this.

Hazte Oir.org, the Spanish citizen platform, has launched the “Operation PP propaganda” to go to Bilbao on May 20th, to help Alzola and Arroyo in their quest with PP propaganda. I have known it thanks to Adosinda.

Riots continue in Paris after Sarkozy wins.

Riots in France produce 270 detained and 367 burned cars.

Radicales Libres: ¿Contra quién va ese elogio? In this post it’s described how Zapatero greeted Sarkozy’s victory:”the leader of the UMP represents an open and modern right able to drive the longing for change in a country which is called to regain the self-confidence“. Hmm, yes, of course, now Sarkozy is a wonderful man, just in case he does not agree with you in immigration and anti-terrorist matters…

Batiburrillo: España-Francia: Aversión y regocijo “Rajoy must take into account that in France has been blown up that false myth of the left is always the winner when the turnout is big. And absurd myth that has never had taken into account the high abstention, for example, of the non-nationalists in the Spanish Autonomous Communities’ elections and in their different statutory referenda”.

» Desde el exilio As the left does not know how to lose, the best thing to do is to send their representatives to the streets to make Royal menaces’ a reality.

Left: the riots in Nantes.

Right: Anti-riot police in La Place de la Concorde.

Anyway, don’t panic: the number of burned carns have not being so abundant as in other nights. The National General Direction of the Police have said that the numbers were not very bigger than the ones burned in the last National Day (July, 14th, 2006) or the ones who are being registered on the Dec. 31st. During the 2005’s riots more than 1000 cars were burned each night.

Sarkozy’s triomph or and hopeful message for all the people who hate the hipocryte left:

Le président Sarkozy est à Malte And Sarkozy is in Malta for relaxing. Looks like he is going to need it, viewing what is waiting for him dans la cité de l’amour.

The Anti-riot police intervened against demonstrators anti-Sarkozy who were breaking glasses near La Bastille, and a lot of them were arrested. In the Chemin vert St., a police charge has permitted to interview some of the demonstrators who had broken more than 40 shops’ glasses.

Blue Star Chronicles: France elects a new President Nicholas Sarkozy and Burns Again.

Publius Pundit has an excellent round-up of blogs.

The ASTUTE BLOGGERS write the Joos win again, about Sarko winning the Presidence.

Gateway Pundit: Sarkozy’s Islamophobia May Be Cause of French Rioting Yes, and they quote the part in which he said that NO BURQA and NO POLIGAMY in France…

[…] they can all point the finger to themselves. They are all to blame, as is their socialist ideology. Socialism has had its day; socialism has brought moral decline, high unemployment rates, weak, unstable economies, huge governments, regulation in just about every area of one’s life; it has caused something called personal responsibility to disappear; it has brought moral relativism; it has learned us that we cannot be proud of our respective country; it has made large groups of people unnecessarily dependent on the government; it has forced us to accept the failed concept of multiculturalism; it has taught us (I mean Europeans in general with that) that whatever you do, you have to be politically correct; it has created an environment in which one is not allowed to name problems, let alone deal with them; it has taught us that criminals are not to blame for their crimes, society as a whole is and that they, therefore, should be coddled instead of punished… oef, the list goes on and on. Socialism has weakened France, and Europe as a whole; it is time to get rid of it.

Bwahhhhhhhhaaaa!!! Le Monde is very, very, very sad and angry after Sarko’s victory.

Summarising: “There is in Sarkozy’s victory, without doubt, a revenge from the right that did not ricognise itself in the 7-year mandate of Giscard d’Estaing, and even less in the 2 terms of Chirac, that they found, very inspired by the Socialist radicalism. That said, this success underlines also the failure of the moral and bien-pensante left”.

If you can understand French just consider the contempt this man has for the right, which is even agressive in the second paragraph cited.

And now, this is the Spanish joke of the Sarko moment: Mr. Zapatero -who supported Ségo and really hates Sarko, who has repeatedly voiced his admiration for the fascist-genocidal-dictatorial-Fraco-ish-…. Aznar- is a jinx for the foreign candidates: He supported Kerry saying he was going to win over Bush, and then Bush won. Then he supported Schröder and this last one lost the elections. Later he called Merkel a failure and she is German President. Later on, he went to support the European Constitution in a meeting with Chirac -when he said “L’Españ voté ui“, instead of “L’Espagne a voté oui” or “Les espagnols ont supporté la Constitution“- and France overwhelmingly voted no: Blog del Movimiento Anti-ZP: ZP sigue siendo un gafe para los candidatos europeos

Sarkozy’s victory is a symptom of what has really changed: A report published by the Spanish Defense Ministry says that the only leaders who could revert he “preogressive decline” of Europe are Merkel and Sarkozy. The report made by the Real Instituto Elcano and the Spanish Institute for Strategis Studies, underlines that Europe now is passing a time of “progressive decline” in which there is no strategic leadership nor leaders who could revert this situation, except German President Merkel and the French just-elected Sarkozy. It also points out that the use of WMD by terrorist groups is “more feasible“, each day that passes.

Lastly, a video. Yes, I know, there are comparisons that are totally hateful and I am sure Zapatero would lose if we compare him with… Tony Blair… I am referring myself to the video Mr Blair has issued for féliciter Monsieur Sarkozy pour sa victoire. With you, Blair, en parlant Français:

A friend of mine has sent me the link to these two videos in You Tube. They are about a debate hosted by Digital TV Libertad Digital about Cuban situation today and the country’s prospects. Really interesting -debate is in Spanish though-.

Primera parte:

Segunda parte:

Turkey’s largest internet services provider shut down access to the YouTube video-sharing web site on Wednesday after a court ruling that some of its content insulted Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey. The decision followed days of furious insult-sharing among Turkish and Greek users of the popular and controversial site.

The result was a flood of complaints to the site and to the media from Turkish users angered by what one newspaper said were “fanatic Greeks broadcasting videos” insulting Ataturk. Turk Telekom acted first by removing the offending items, but a court ordered access to the site to be blocked late on Tuesday after prosecutors brought a case against YouTube.

A message posted on the site late on Wednesday said access had been suspended following a decision by an Istanbul court. One video posted on the site allegedly claimed that Ataturk and Turks were “homosexuals”. Ataturk, who died in 1938, is a revered figure in Turkey and it is a crime to “insult” him or state institutions. Many writers, including the Nobel literature laureate Orhan Pamuk, have faced trial for work that allegedly breaches this law.

Turkish court orders YouTube blocked – Yahoo! News

The video prompting the ban allegedly said Ataturk and the Turkish people were homosexuals, news reports said. The CNN-Turk Web site featured a link allowing Turks to complain directly to YouTube about the “insult.”

On its front page on Wednesday, the newspaper Hurriyet said thousands of people had written YouTube and that the Ataturk videos had been removed from the site. “YouTube got the message,” the headline said. Insulting Ataturk or “Turkishness” is a crime in Turkey punishable by prison.

So someone in a video insults Turks and a whole site of internet is shut?? Wouldn’t it be sufficient to remove it?

___________________
